Rookie Quarterbacks

Come April 27th, we will see a new rookie class of Quarterbacks get drafted to their new respective teams throughout the NFL. On top of that list, you will see 4 names in particular, including C.J. Stroud, Bryce Young, Will Levis, and Anthony Richardson. Where will there end up? That is a question many of us are chomping at the bit to know. For these rookie quarterbacks, they will give their new teams and fans hope, hope that they can turn franchises around.

One of the formerly mentioned quarterbacks will surely be drafted by the Carolina Panthers, who just last week, traded up to get the number 1 overall pick in this year’s draft. C.J. Stroud seems to have the inside track to be the first quarterback selected. He has the prototypical size NFL teams are looking for, sitting at 6’4 and 220 pounds. He can also make all the throws you need him to make, along with the ability to run if he needs to. If Stroud does get picked by the Panthers, they will have to follow that up with picking up some weapons for him to throw to having traded their number 1 wide receiver D.J. Moore.

The second Quarterback that will being going off the board will most likely be Bryce Young, out of Alabama, who will most likely end up with Houston Texans, or the Indianapolis Colts. Now there are reports that the Texans will be going after Jimmy Garoppolo in free agency, so the Texans may pass on Young, and instead take LB Will Anderson. That takes us to the Indianapolis Colts, a team that has made it known that they are looking to draft a QB to develop. Bryce Young can make all the throws; however, he is a bit undersized at 5’11. NFL teams in recent years have looked past Quarterbacks with height discrepancies, so it would be easy to see one of these two teams taking a chance on Bryce Young.

Now for Will Levis and Anthony Richardson, there will be many teams in the mix for their services at the next level. The Lions at 6 could choose one of these two, to develop under Jared Goff. The Las Vegas Raiders at 7, after dropping Derek Carr, are also looking for a new Quarterback under center for this coming year. There have been rumors, like the Texans, the Raiders will also be going after Jimmy Garoppolo when free agency starts.

More teams that are also looking for a new rookie quarterback to possibly develop or throw out under center this coming season, are as follows, the Tennessee Titans, New York Jets (depending on whether Aaron Rodgers gets traded), Washington Commanders, Baltimore Ravens, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Atlanta Falcons is also another team on the radar for a new QB, if they don’t think Desmond Ridder can be the guy there.

It will be interesting to see where these 4 rookie quarterbacks go, and whether they all are starters on the NFL level this coming season, or teams choose to develop them on the bench for a year or two.
